DESCRIPTION: The Brooklyn Bridge is a vehicular suspension bridge, the southernmost of the bridges across the East River, between lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. It was built from 1869–83. The achievement of J. A. Roebling and his son W. A. Roebling, it has a span of 1,595 ft (486 m). It was the first steel-wire suspension bridge in the world and was the world's longest suspension bridge at the time of its completion.  The old skyline of New York City is also displayed in the background including the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.
